What do you consider good design? When it comes to web site design, I prefer simplicity -- clean & simple. The site should provide just enough information and the information should be easily located. Navigation should be simple and user friendly.
Use of colors is also important. The colors should be appealing to the visitor. Nothing too bright, nothing too dull.
Flash intro pages can be fun and appealing at first, however, they can slow down loading of the page and cause your visitors to navigate away. It is also important to remember that not everyone accessing your page may be on a high speed connection, and accessing via smartphone, especially an iPhone, may cause further problems as iPhone blocks Flash websites.
